In honour of the 95th birthday of B.K.S. Iyengar, Yoga Centre Toronto presents the Compendium of Iyengar Yoga Practices, based upon the work of B.K.S. Iyengar and Geeta S. Iyengar.

In this two-volume set of over 600 pages packed with instructional photographs, senior Iyengar Yoga teacher Marlene Mawhinney offers 19 planned practices for people with health challenges. Volume 1 – Special Needs, addresses musculoskeletal problems of the joints and spine, as well as suggested practices for healthy maintenance for prenatal, fertility support and menopause. Volume 2 – Special Practices, addresses systemic illnesses such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and high blood pressure, all with the goal of promoting a return to healthy living.

Reviewed by Mr. Iyengar in February, 2013, each practice gives precise background information about the condition, an order of practice, prop use, and what to observe when the person is in the asana. Also included is an alphabetical asana index and worksheets.
